Windows Mobile 6.5 Meeting Acceptance Options
Windows Mobile 6.5 provided users with several native response options to manage calendar invitations sent through Microsoft Exchange Server and Outlook Mobile. This article outlines the specific acceptance choices, delivery configurations, and scheduling options available when handling meeting requests on the platform.
Primary Response Choices
When a meeting request was received via email or opened directly in the Windows Mobile 6.5 Calendar, users could select from three primary response statuses:
- Accept: Confirms attendance and officially books the time slot as busy on the user's calendar.
- Tentative: Adds the meeting to the schedule while marking the time as tentatively busy, indicating the recipient might attend.
- Decline: Rejects the invitation and removes or excludes the event from the user's active calendar view.
Response Sending Modes
After selecting an initial response status (Accept, Tentative, or Decline), Windows Mobile 6.5 prompted the user to choose how that decision should be communicated back to the meeting organizer:
- Edit the response before sending: Opens a compose window allowing the user to attach an explanatory note, proposed agenda adjustment, or comment to the response email before dispatching it.
- Send the response now: Immediately dispatches the standard acceptance, tentative, or decline notification to the organizer without any custom comments.
- Do not send a response: Updates the user's local and server-synchronized calendar to reflect the chosen status (such as Accept or Tentative) without transmitting an email notification to the meeting organizer.
Propose New Time
When connected to Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 or Exchange Server 2010 via ActiveSync, Windows Mobile 6.5 also offered a Propose New Time option. Instead of an outright decline or acceptance, users could view their schedule, select an alternative start and end time, and send the proposal back to the organizer for approval.
