Use Center Stage with Continuity Camera in macOS 13
Yes, you can use Center Stage with Continuity Camera in macOS 13 (Ventura). This feature utilizes the Ultra Wide camera on a connected iPhone to keep you centered in the camera frame as you move around during video calls. It works automatically across various macOS video conferencing applications, including FaceTime, Zoom, and Microsoft Teams.
System Requirements
To use Center Stage via Continuity Camera, you must meet the following hardware and software criteria:
- Mac Operating System: macOS 13 Ventura or later.
- iPhone Operating System: iOS 16 or later.
- iPhone Hardware: iPhone 11 or newer (Center Stage requires the Ultra Wide camera sensor found on iPhone 11 and later models, excluding iPhone SE).
- Connectivity Settings: Both devices must have Wi-Fi and Bluetooth turned on, use the same Apple ID with two-factor authentication enabled, and not be sharing an active cellular or internet connection.
How to Enable Center Stage
- Place your iPhone securely in a mount or stand near your Mac with the rear cameras facing you.
- Open a video conferencing app (such as FaceTime, Zoom, or Webex).
- Ensure your Mac selects the iPhone as its active camera within the video app's settings.
- Click the Control Center icon (two toggle switches) located in the upper-right corner of the macOS menu bar.
- Click Video Effects at the top of the Control Center.
- Click Center Stage to toggle the feature on.
Once enabled, the iPhone camera will automatically track your movements and dynamically adjust the framing to keep you and anyone else next to you in the center of the video feed. You can toggle Center Stage off at any time using the same Video Effects menu.
