Manage Notification Center Widgets on macOS 13

This guide provides a quick overview of how to customize and organize Notification Center widgets on macOS 13 (Ventura). You will learn how to open your widget gallery from the desktop, add new tools, resize existing widgets, reorganize their layout, and remove the ones you no longer need.

Accessing Notification Center Widgets

In macOS 13, widgets reside inside the Notification Center panel rather than directly on the open desktop canvas.

  1. Click the date and time in the top-right corner of your menu bar, or swipe left with two fingers from the right edge of your trackpad.
  2. The Notification Center will slide out from the right side of your desktop, displaying your active widgets beneath your notifications.

Adding New Widgets

  1. Open the Notification Center and scroll to the bottom.
  2. Click the Edit Widgets button.
  3. Browse the left sidebar to see available widgets categorized by app (e.g., Calendar, Weather, Stocks).
  4. Select an app, then choose your preferred widget size: Small (S), Medium (M), or Large (L).
  5. Hover over the widget and click the green (+) button, or drag the widget directly into your desired position in the Notification Center list.
  6. Click Done in the bottom-right corner to save your changes.

Rearranging and Resizing Widgets

  • Reorder: While in the Notification Center, click and hold any widget, then drag it up or down to change its position in the list.
  • Resize: Right-click (or Control-click) a widget and choose a different size (Small, Medium, or Large) from the contextual menu.
  • Edit details: Right-click a widget and select Edit "[Widget Name]" to modify the information it shows, such as changing the default location for the Weather widget or selecting a specific city's World Clock.

Removing Widgets

  1. Open the Notification Center.
  2. Right-click (or Control-click) the widget you want to delete.
  3. Click Remove Widget.

Alternatively, click Edit Widgets at the bottom of the panel and click the black (-) minus icon in the top-left corner of any widget to delete it immediately.
