How to Manage App Tracking in macOS 13
This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on how to manage App Tracking Transparency (ATT) prompts in macOS 13 Ventura. You will learn where to locate the tracking settings in the redesigned System Settings menu, how to grant or revoke tracking permissions for individual applications, and how to block all incoming tracking requests entirely to streamline your privacy management.
Accessing the Tracking Settings in macOS 13
Starting in macOS 13 Ventura, system settings were overhauled to match the layout of iOS and iPadOS. Follow these steps to find the tracking options:
- Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of your screen.
- Select System Settings.
- In the sidebar on the left, scroll down and click Privacy & Security.
- In the right pane, locate and click on Tracking.
Blocking All App Tracking Prompts
If you prefer to never see tracking requests from apps, you can disable the prompts system-wide:
- In the Tracking menu, find the toggle labeled Allow Apps to Request to Track.
- Switch the toggle to the Off position.
When this setting is disabled, apps cannot ask for your permission to track your activity across other companies’ apps and websites. Any app that attempts to request permission will automatically receive a denial, preventing cross-app data tracking by default.
Managing Tracking on a Per-App Basis
If you want to allow certain applications to request permission while blocking others, leave the master toggle enabled and manage apps individually:
- Keep the Allow Apps to Request to Track toggle switched On.
- Review the list of applications beneath the toggle that have requested tracking permissions.
- Switch the toggle next to any specific app to On to grant permission, or Off to deny or revoke permission.
Changes take effect immediately, though you may need to restart active applications for the new tracking preferences to fully apply.
