How to Check Safari Privacy Reports on macOS 13
Apple’s Safari browser on macOS 13 (Ventura) includes an integrated Privacy Report that actively monitors and blocks cross-site trackers from profiling your web browsing. This guide covers how to quickly check the privacy details for a specific active webpage, how to view the comprehensive 30-day tracking report, and how to interpret the data Safari collects to protect your privacy.
Check Privacy Details for the Current Website
To see the trackers blocked on the specific webpage you are currently viewing:
- Open Safari on your Mac.
- Navigate to any website.
- Click the Privacy Report button (a shield icon) located on the left side of the Smart Search field (address bar).
- A drop-down card will appear, showing how many trackers were prevented from profiling you on that page, along with the names of those trackers.
View the Comprehensive 30-Day Privacy Report
Safari also aggregates tracking data over the past 30 days to give you a broader overview of tracking attempts across the web.
- Open Safari.
- Click Safari in the menu bar at the top of the screen.
- Select Privacy Report from the drop-down menu.
Alternatively, you can open a new tab to access your Safari Start Page, locate the Privacy Report section, and click on it to open the full window.
Understanding the Privacy Report
Once the full Privacy Report window opens, you can review two main sections:
- Websites Tab: Lists all the websites you have visited that contacted trackers, ordered by the number of trackers detected. Clicking on a specific website reveals the exact trackers that were blocked.
- Trackers Tab: Displays the specific trackers that attempted to profile you across multiple websites, detailing how many sites they were found on.
Safari automatically uses Intelligent Tracking Prevention to block these trackers from accessing your data, requiring no additional setup on your part.
