Disable Optimized Battery Charging in macOS 13

You can bypass or completely disable Optimized Battery Charging in macOS 13 Ventura to charge your MacBook to 100 percent immediately. Apple provides two direct solutions: a quick override via the menu bar to force an immediate full charge for your current session, or a setting toggle within System Settings to disable the feature temporarily or permanently.

Method 1: Charge to Full Immediately from the Menu Bar

If your MacBook has paused charging at 80 percent and you need a full charge right away:

  1. Click the Battery icon in the menu bar at the top of your screen.
  2. In the drop-down menu, locate the charging status indicator.
  3. Click Charge to Full Now.

Your Mac will bypass the optimization schedule and immediately draw power until it reaches 100 percent.

Method 2: Disable Optimized Battery Charging in System Settings

If you want to prevent macOS 13 from automatically pausing charging in the future:

  1. Click the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of the screen and select System Settings.
  2. Scroll down the left sidebar and click Battery.
  3. Locate the Battery Health section and click the Info button (the lowercase "i" icon) next to it.
  4. Turn off the toggle switch next to Optimized Battery Charging.
  5. When prompted, select Turn Off Until Tomorrow to pause the feature for 24 hours, or Turn Off to disable it indefinitely.
  6. Click Done to confirm the setting.

With this setting turned off, your Mac will charge directly to 100 percent whenever it is plugged into a power source.
