How to View Calculator History in iOS 18

Apple's iOS 18 update introduces a dedicated history log to the native iPhone Calculator app, allowing users to track and review previous calculations without relying on third-party tools. This guide explains how to access the new calculation history, reuse past results, and manage or delete saved entries in standard and scientific calculator modes.

Accessing the Calculation History

To view past computations in iOS 18:

  1. Open the Calculator app on your iPhone.
  2. Tap the panel icon (three horizontal lines) located in the upper-left corner of the screen. Alternatively, if your phone is in landscape orientation (Scientific mode), tap the same menu icon in the upper-left.
  3. A slide-over panel will appear displaying a chronological list of your recent calculations, showing both the full equation and the final result.

Reusing and Copying Past Calculations

The history log is interactive, allowing you to use past data in ongoing work:

  • Insert into Current Equation: Tap any previous equation in the list to load its result directly into your active calculator screen.
  • Copy Data: Touch and hold (long-press) a specific entry to open the context menu. From here, you can select Copy Expression to copy the full math problem or Copy Result to copy only the final number.

Deleting History Entries

You can manage your saved calculations to keep the log organized or clear sensitive figures:

  • Delete a Single Entry: Swipe left on any specific calculation in the history panel and tap the red trash icon, or long-press the item and select Delete.
  • Clear Entire History: Tap the Edit button in the upper-right corner of the history panel, then tap Clear All (or tap the trash icon at the bottom of the list) to permanently wipe your full calculation history.
