How to Unhide Apps on iPhone in iOS 18
Apple introduced the ability to lock and hide individual apps behind biometric authentication in iOS 18. This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on how to locate your locked "Hidden" folder, remove the Face ID or Touch ID requirement to unhide an app, and restore its icon back onto your Home Screen.
Step 1: Access the Hidden Folder
- Swipe left across your Home Screen pages until you reach the App Library.
- Scroll to the very bottom of the App Library to find the Hidden folder.
- Tap the Hidden folder and authenticate using Face ID, Touch ID, or your passcode.
Step 2: Unhide the App
- Once the folder opens, locate the app you want to unhide.
- Tap and hold (long-press) the app icon until the context menu appears.
- Select Don't Require Face ID (or Don't Require Touch ID / Passcode).
- Authenticate one more time to confirm your choice.
The app is now unhidden and will immediately move out of the Hidden folder into its regular category in the App Library.
Step 3: Add the App Back to the Home Screen
- In the App Library, locate the unhidden app either by searching for it in the top search bar or browsing its category.
- Long-press the app icon.
- Tap Add to Home Screen. Alternatively, tap and drag the icon directly onto your preferred Home Screen page.
