How to Resize Control Center Controls in iOS 18
Apple's iOS 18 introduces deep customization for the Control Center, allowing users to rearrange, add, and adjust the dimensions of individual controls. This guide explains how to enter the layout editing mode and use the resizing handles to transform single toggles into larger, more accessible modules.
How to Resize Controls in iOS 18
- Open Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen (on iPhones with Face ID) or swipe up from the bottom edge (on iPhones with Touch ID).
- Enter Edit Mode: Tap the
+(Add) button in the top-left corner of the Control Center screen, or long-press on any empty space between the controls. - Locate the Resize Handle: In edit mode, adjustable controls display a thick, curved grab handle in their bottom-right corner.
- Drag to Resize: Touch and drag the handle outwards to make the module larger, or drag it inwards to shrink it.
- Save Changes: Tap an empty area of the screen or swipe up from the bottom to exit edit mode.
Available Size Formats
Depending on the specific control, modules can be configured into multiple shapes and sizes:
- Small (1x1): The standard circular toggle icon for simple on/off actions.
- Medium (2x1): A wider, pill-shaped button that often displays status text or quick labels alongside the icon.
- Large (2x2): A square widget-like module that provides enhanced interactive elements or sliders.
- Extra Large (4x2): Available for select controls, such as the Now Playing module, offering expanded playback controls and track information.
Not every control supports every size variation; controls will automatically snap to the nearest supported layout dimension as you drag the handle.
