How to Reset iOS 18 Control Center to Default

Apple’s iOS 18 introduces unprecedented customization for the Control Center, allowing users to rearrange, resize, and add multi-page controls. However, if your setup becomes cluttered, iOS 18 does not feature a dedicated one-tap "Reset to Default" button inside the interface. This guide outlines the two primary ways to restore your original Control Center layout: manually rebuilding the factory configuration or performing a system settings reset.

Method 1: Manually Rebuilding the Default Layout

The fastest and least disruptive way to return to the original layout is to rebuild the default page manually through the Control Center editor.

  1. Enter Edit Mode: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center. Tap and hold any empty space, or tap the + (plus) icon in the top-left corner.
  2. Remove Unwanted Tiles: Tap the – (minus) icon on any custom shortcuts, widgets, or third-party controls you no longer want.
  3. Delete Extra Pages: If you added secondary control pages, swipe down to them and tap the minus icon on all items on that page until the page disappears.
  4. Re-add Default Controls: Tap Add a Control at the bottom to re-insert any missing stock tools.
  5. Recreate the Factory Arrangement:
    • Top Left: Connectivity group (2x2 grid containing Airplane Mode, AirDrop, Wi-Fi, and Cellular).
    • Top Right: Now Playing widget (2x2 square).
    • Middle Section: Portrait Orientation Lock (1x1), Screen Mirroring (2x1), and Focus (2x1).
    • Sliders: Display Brightness slider (vertical 1x2) and Volume slider (vertical 1x2) placed side-by-side.
    • Bottom Row: Flashlight, Timer, Calculator, and Camera (all 1x1 circular icons).
  6. Save Changes: Tap anywhere in the empty space or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to exit edit mode.

Method 2: Reset All Settings

If your Control Center is extensively altered and you want an exact automated restoration to factory settings, you can reset all system configurations. Note that while this method does not erase personal data like photos or apps, it will remove saved Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, and home screen layouts.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  3. Tap Reset at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select Reset All Settings.
  5. Enter your passcode and confirm the action.

Once your iPhone restarts, the Control Center will be completely restored to its original factory state alongside the default system preferences.
