How to Reset Control Center in iOS 18

Apple’s iOS 18 introduces extensive customization options for the Control Center, allowing users to resize controls, create multiple pages, and integrate third-party shortcuts. If your layout becomes disorganized or difficult to navigate, there is no single "Restore Defaults" button inside the Control Center editor. To revert to the original factory configuration, you must either manually reconstruct the default layout or perform a system-level settings reset.

Method 1: Manually Rebuilding the Default Layout

The safest and most practical way to restore the default Control Center is to manually remove unwanted controls and re-add the original Apple toggles without affecting the rest of your device.

  1. Enter Edit Mode: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen to open Control Center, then tap the + (plus) icon in the top-left corner or press and hold any empty space.
  2. Remove Unwanted Items: Tap the – (minus) icon on each control you want to delete. Remove custom controls, third-party widgets, and secondary pages.
  3. Delete Extra Pages: Swipe down through any extra pages you created and remove all icons on them. An empty page will automatically disappear once cleared.
  4. Re-add Default Toggles: Tap Add a Control at the bottom of the screen to restore the standard layout:
    • Connectivity Platter: Includes Airplane Mode, Cellular, Wi-Fi, and Bluetooth.
    • Media Controls: The default "Now Playing" platter.
    • Sliders: Independent sliders for Brightness and Volume.
    • Utility Shortcuts: Add Flashlight, Timer, Calculator, and Camera to the bottom rows.
  5. Exit Edit Mode: Tap anywhere outside the grid or swipe up from the bottom of the screen to save your changes.

Method 2: Resetting All Settings

If you want an automatic return to the original layout without manually arranging icons, you can reset system settings. Note that this method will also reset your Wi-Fi networks, Bluetooth pairings, wallpaper, and display settings, though it will not delete any personal data, apps, or media.

  1. Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
  2. Navigate to General > Transfer or Reset iPhone.
  3. Tap Reset at the bottom of the screen.
  4. Select Reset All Settings.
  5. Enter your device passcode when prompted and confirm the action.

Once your iPhone restarts, the Control Center will be restored entirely to its factory default layout alongside other default system preferences.
