How iOS 18 Control Center Pages Work

Apple's iOS 18 completely overhauls the Control Center by introducing a multi-page organization system that categorizes controls into distinct functional groups. Instead of forcing every toggle into a single, static grid, the updated design splits system functions into dedicated pages—including Favorites, Media Playback, Home Controls, and Connectivity—allowing users to quickly access specific tools via continuous vertical scrolling.

The New Page Structure and Navigation

Control Center in iOS 18 abandons the single-screen restriction in favor of a vertical pagination system. When you swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen, a set of small navigation icons appears along the right-hand edge. These icons represent each active page:

  • Favorites (Heart icon): The default landing page containing essential daily toggles like Flashlight, Camera, Screen Mirroring, and custom quick-actions.
  • Now Playing (Music note icon): A full-page media player displaying album artwork, playback scrubbers, volume sliders, and quick AirPlay destination selectors.
  • Home (House icon): Dedicated access to HomeKit accessories, smart scenes, and cameras, dynamically surfaced based on user routines.
  • Connectivity (Antenna icon): A full page dedicated to network settings, bringing expanded controls for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Cellular Data, Personal Hotspot, AirDrop, Airplane Mode, and VPN to the forefront.

Users can navigate between these pages by performing a continuous swipe up or down, or by tapping directly on the small group icons on the right edge.

Fluid Customization and Resizing

Beyond default categories, iOS 18 allows full manual reorganization:

  • Adding and Removing Pages: When you drag a control downward past the bottom of the last existing page in edit mode, iOS automatically creates an entirely new blank page. If all controls are removed from a non-core page, that page disappears.
  • The Controls Gallery: Pressing and holding the display or tapping the plus (+) icon in the top left opens a system gallery. From here, users can drag native controls and supported third-party app actions directly onto any page.
  • Flexible Sizing: Controls are no longer locked to a fixed 1x1 tile size. Each module features an adjustable grab handle that lets users resize toggles into 1x1 buttons, 2x2 widgets, or wide 2x4 sliders directly within their chosen functional category.

By segregating deep settings into dedicated functional screens, iOS 18 keeps the initial screen clutter-free while eliminating the need to long-press folders to access expanded features.
