Customize Pinned Collections in iOS 18 Photos

Apple’s iOS 18 redesign of the Photos app allows users to fully customize the Pinned Collections section. Users can choose which shortcuts appear, remove unwanted items, reorder them, and even reposition the entire Pinned Collections section higher up on the screen to suit their personal workflow.

Customizing Items Inside Pinned Collections

To change the specific albums, categories, or utilities pinned inside the collection:

  1. Open the Photos app.
  2. Scroll down past your photo grid to locate the Pinned Collections section.
  3. Tap the Modify button located on the left side of the Pinned Collections row.
  4. To add items: Scroll down to the "Suggestions" list and tap the green plus (+) icon next to any item (such as Favorites, Screenshots, Recently Saved, Videos, or custom albums).
  5. To remove items: Tap the red minus (–) icon next to any pinned item you no longer want.
  6. To reorder items: Tap and hold the three horizontal lines (drag handle) next to an item and drag it to your preferred position.
  7. Tap the Done button in the top-right corner to save your changes.

Moving Pinned Collections Higher on the Screen

If you want the entire Pinned Collections block to appear immediately below your photo grid:

  1. Scroll to the very bottom of the Photos app.
  2. Tap Customize & Reorder.
  3. Locate Pinned Collections in the list.
  4. Press and hold the drag handle on the right side of Pinned Collections and drag it to the top of the list.
  5. Tap the X button to close the menu.

Pinned Collections will now appear directly below your main photo library whenever you open the app.
