Are Genmoji Saved in the iOS 18 Sticker Library?
Yes, Genmoji are automatically saved to your system-wide sticker library in iOS 18, allowing you to access and reuse them quickly across supported messaging apps. Powered by Apple Intelligence starting in iOS 18.2, any custom Genmoji you generate is retained in your keyboard's sticker collection, eliminating the need to recreate the prompt each time you want to send it.
How Genmoji Storage Works
When you design a new Genmoji through the keyboard interface, iOS treats the final creation as a persistent asset. Once inserted into a message, the system stores it directly inside your keyboard drawer alongside standard Memoji and custom photo stickers.
You can find previously generated Genmoji by:
- Tapping the Emoji/Stickers icon on the iOS keyboard.
- Swiping to your Stickers tab or scrolling to the "Recently Used" section.
- Selecting the Genmoji you want to send.
Compatibility Across Third-Party Messaging Apps
Because Genmoji are integrated directly into the system keyboard's sticker drawer, they are not restricted exclusively to Apple Messages. You can insert them into third-party messaging platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, and Instagram.
However, how the recipient sees the Genmoji depends on the app:
- Apple Messages (iOS 18.1+ and macOS Sequoia 15.1+):
Genmoji function like native inline emoji using Apple's
NSAdaptiveImageGlyphstandard, scaling naturally alongside standard text. - Third-Party and Non-Apple Apps: In apps that do not yet support Apple's inline glyph format, selecting a saved Genmoji from the sticker drawer automatically sends it as a standalone image sticker with transparency.
Managing and Deleting Saved Genmoji
If your sticker drawer becomes cluttered, managing your stored Genmoji is straightforward:
- Open the sticker interface on your keyboard.
- Long-press the Genmoji you wish to remove.
- Tap Delete to permanently remove it from your saved collection.
