You can select specific smart locks, garage door openers, and security alarm systems while keeping all other accessories, cameras, and automations hidden from the guest.

Customizable Access Schedules

The Home app now supports three distinct scheduling options for each invited guest:

  • Always Allowed: Grants unlimited, continuous access to designated entry accessories.
  • Specific Times: Creates recurring access windows for service professionals, such as dog walkers or cleaners (e.g., Monday through Friday between 9:00 AM and 1:00 PM).
  • Temporary Access: Sets a specific start date and expiration date, ideal for house guests or vacation rental visitors. Once the time window ends, access is automatically revoked.

Unique PIN Codes

Homeowners can generate, customize, and manage individual keypad codes for smart locks directly within the Home app. Guests do not need an Apple device or an Apple Account to use these PIN codes, making the feature accessible to anyone using a compatible smart keypad lock.

Express Mode and Hands-Free Unlocking

For locks that support Apple Home Key, guests using an iPhone or Apple Watch can take advantage of digital keys stored in Apple Wallet. With iOS 18 and compatible Ultra Wideband (UWB) smart locks, guests can unlock doors hands-free simply by approaching the door with their device, eliminating the need to physically tap a sensor or enter a code.

Activity History Tracking

The Home app's Activity History now details which specific guest accessed the home and at what time. This log tracks smart lock unlocking events, garage door operations, and alarm system disarms, providing a clear timeline of all guest entries and exits.
