How to Hang Up Calls with Siri in iOS 16
Apple introduced a hands-free feature in iOS 16 that allows Siri to end active phone and FaceTime calls using a simple voice command. This guide explains how to enable the Call Hang Up feature in your iPhone's settings and how to use it during cellular and FaceTime conversations.
Supported Devices
To use Siri Call Hang Up, you need an iPhone 11 or newer running iOS 16 or later. Older devices (such as the iPhone XS or XR) can also use this feature, but only when paired with compatible headphones, such as AirPods or Beats that support "Hey Siri."
How to Enable Siri Call Hang Up
The feature is disabled by default to prevent accidental disconnections. To turn it on:
- Open the Settings app on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and tap Siri & Search.
- Tap Call Hang Up.
- Toggle the switch next to Call Hang Up to the On (green) position.
How to Use the Command During a Call
Once enabled, you can end any ongoing cellular call or FaceTime call hands-free:
- While on an active call, say: "Hey Siri, hang up." (or simply "Siri, hang up" on iOS 17 and later).
- The iPhone will immediately terminate the call.
Note: The person on the other end of the line will hear you say the command before the call disconnects.
