How to Add Multiple Stops in iOS 16 Maps
Apple Maps in iOS 16 allows users to plan driving routes with up to 15 stops along a single trip. This guide explains how to build a multi-stop itinerary on your iPhone, reorder your stops, remove locations, and modify your route on the go before and during your drive.
How to Create a Multi-Stop Route
- Open the Maps app on your iPhone running iOS 16 or later.
- Search for your final destination in the search bar and tap it.
- Tap the Directions button and ensure the Driving icon (car) is selected, as multi-stop routing is exclusive to driving directions.
- Tap Add Stop located directly beneath your starting location and destination.
- Search for the next location or select one from your recents, favorites, or map pins.
- Repeat this process by tapping Add Stop again for each additional location you wish to visit (up to a maximum of 15 stops, including start and end points).
How to Reorder Stops
- In the route planning card, locate the list of all your added destinations.
- Touch and hold the three-line icon (hamburger handle) next to any stop you want to move.
- Drag the stop up or down to place it in your preferred driving order.
- Release your finger to set the new sequence. Apple Maps will automatically recalculate the travel time and directions based on the updated order.
How to Delete a Stop
- Method 1: Swipe left on the stop you want to remove and tap Delete.
- Method 2: Tap on the stop name, then tap the red minus icon or delete option to clear it from the route list.
How to Add a Stop While Driving
- After starting your route by tapping the green Go button, tap the route card at the bottom of the screen to expand options.
- Tap Add a Stop.
- Select a category (such as Gas Stations, Coffee, or Parking) or search for a specific location.
- Select the location and tap Add Stop to append it to your current active route. Alternatively, you can use Siri by saying, "Hey Siri, add a stop at the nearest gas station."
