New Memoji Clothing Options in iOS 15
Apple's iOS 15 software update introduced significant personalization upgrades to Memoji, most notably the long-awaited ability to customize your digital avatar's wardrobe. This article breaks down the specific clothing options added in iOS 15, the new multi-color styling tools, and how these wardrobe additions appear across Messages and FaceTime.
Over 40 Diverse Outfit Choices
Prior to iOS 15, Memoji customization was largely limited to headwear, eyewear, and facial features. The iOS 15 release added a dedicated "Clothing" tab featuring more than 40 distinct outfit options. The collection spans multiple aesthetics, practical styles, and seasonal garments, including:
- Casual Basics: Crewneck t-shirts, V-necks, henleys, and polo shirts.
- Layered Looks and Outerwear: Hoodies, zip-up jackets, varsity jackets, denim coats, and trench coats.
- Formal and Business Attire: Collared dress shirts, blazers, suit jackets, and business-casual sweaters.
- Athletic and Loungewear: Tracksuits, athletic jerseys, and relaxed-fit loungewear.
Multi-Color Palette Customization
Alongside the new silhouettes, Apple introduced deep color customization for clothing. Instead of relying on static preset patterns, users can tailor individual parts of an outfit:
- Primary and Accent Colors: Outfits feature multiple customizable zones, allowing users to select up to three different colors for a single garment (such as the base fabric, sleeves, and collar trims).
- Extended Color Sliders: Users can choose from a broad palette of preset shades or adjust brightness and tone using color sliders to match specific real-world clothing.
Upper-Body Memoji Stickers
To showcase the new clothing additions, Apple redesigned Memoji stickers to feature upper-body poses rather than just floating heads. The stickers depict avatars from the waist or chest up, displaying the customized outfits alongside expressive gestures such as peace signs, crossed arms, and hand waves.
How to Access the iOS 15 Clothing Options
To try the clothing options on any device running iOS 15 or later:
