iOS 15 Memoji Eyewear and Headgear Updates
Apple’s iOS 15 update expanded Memoji personalization by introducing versatile new styling choices for eyewear and headwear. These additions focus on deeper visual expression and greater representation, allowing users to customize frame shapes, tint lenses, and apply multi-colored patterns to various hats and caps.
New Eyewear Customization Options
In iOS 15, Apple introduced playful frame shapes alongside expanded color controls for glasses:
- New Frame Shapes: Users gained access to fun, expressive designs, including heart-shaped, star-shaped, and retro-inspired frames.
- Independent Lens and Frame Coloring: The update introduced the ability to select different colors for the frames and the lenses. Users can customize the opacity and tint of the lenses to create sunglasses, colored tints, or standard clear prescription lenses.
New Headgear Customization Options
Headwear received major functional upgrades in iOS 15, emphasizing personal style, team pride, and inclusivity:
- Multi-Color Hats and Caps: Users can customize certain hats—such as classic baseball caps—with up to three distinct colors. This feature allows different colors to be assigned to the crown, brim, and trim, making it easy to replicate favorite sports team colors.
- Inclusive Styles: iOS 15 added headwear reflecting a broader range of cultural, religious, and safety apparel, including swim caps, turbans, and protective soft helmets.
