iOS 15 Control Center Home Controls Changes

Apple introduced key refinements to Home controls within the Control Center in iOS 15, focusing on reducing visual clutter and improving interface predictability. While iOS 14 introduced dynamic, individual accessory tiles that frequently shifted layout and occupied excessive screen space, iOS 15 restructured how these controls are grouped and accessed, creating a cleaner and more consistent user experience.

More Compact and Organized Layout

In iOS 15, the dynamic accessory tiles no longer dominate the main Control Center screen by default. Instead of scattering numerous individual accessory squares across the panel, the interface groups devices more intelligently. Users can access a compact Home icon that expands into a dedicated, organized overlay, preventing smart home controls from pushing other essential system toggles out of reach.

Room and Scene Grouping

When expanding the Home section in Control Center, accessories are organized by room and context rather than appearing as an unorganized list of frequently used items. This room-based grouping makes it faster to locate specific lights, thermostats, and locks without opening the full Home app.

Refined Dynamic Suggestions

Apple adjusted the algorithm that predicts which accessories you need. Instead of constantly reshuffling the main Control Center grid based on time of day or location, iOS 15 keeps the layout stable while subtly updating suggested scenes and accessories within the designated Home panel. This prevents accidental taps on the wrong controls caused by sudden interface shifts.

Granular Display Settings

Users can still manage how these controls behave through Settings > Control Center. Toggling "Show Home Controls" allows users to either keep the streamlined, grouped Home hub visible or remove it entirely for an ultra-minimalist Control Center setup.
