iOS 15 Apple Books App Interface Updates

Apple introduced several focused interface enhancements to the Books app with the release of iOS 15, aiming to modernize navigation, improve audio listening, and streamline digital reading. This update refined the visual design across both the reading and audiobook experiences, providing users with a more intuitive layout, cleaner controls, and better tools for tracking personal reading goals.

Redesigned Audiobook Player

One of the most noticeable interface updates in iOS 15 appeared in the audiobook player. Apple introduced a cleaner, full-screen playback screen alongside a completely redesigned mini-player. The mini-player sits discreetly at the bottom of the interface, allowing users to pause, resume, and track chapter progress while browsing the library or store. Within the expanded player, controls for playback speed, sleep timers, and chapter selection were simplified into a more accessible, modern layout.

Updated Reading Goals Interface

The Reading Goals feature received a visual refresh within the "Reading Now" tab. The interface introduced clearer progress rings and celebration banners to display daily reading time and annual book targets. The visual layout made it easier to view reading streaks and share milestones directly from the main tab with fewer taps.

Enhanced Search and Navigation

The Search tab was updated with an improved layout that delivers categorized suggestions before a user finishes typing. Results were reorganized into distinct cards and visual groupings for top matches, author listings, and format types (ebooks vs. audiobooks), reducing screen clutter and speeding up discovery.

Refined Store and Library Tabs

Navigation across the Book Store and Library tabs became more streamlined. Apple updated the iconography, reduced unnecessary visual borders, and implemented smoother card transitions. Library filtering controls for sorting books by title, author, or custom collections were made more prominent and easier to toggle.
