How to Organize PDF Pages in Files App on iOS 15
Apple introduced dedicated PDF editing tools to the native Files app in iOS 15, allowing iPhone and iPad users to manage multi-page documents without third-party software. With these updates, you can reorder, rotate, insert, and delete individual PDF pages directly within the operating system.
Accessing the Page Editor
To access the PDF organization options in iOS 15:
- Open the Files app and select any PDF document.
- Swipe right from the left edge of the screen to reveal the page thumbnail sidebar (or tap the sidebar icon if visible).
- Tap the More Options (three dots) button on any page thumbnail to open the editing menu.
New PDF Organization Options
The updated menu includes several native tools for managing individual pages:
- Rotate Left and Rotate Right: Change the orientation of specific pages without rotating the entire document.
- Rearrange Pages: Drag and drop page thumbnails within the sidebar to instantly reorder them.
- Insert Blank Page: Add a blank sheet anywhere within the document for annotations, drawings, or notes.
- Insert from File: Merge pages from another PDF or document stored on your device or in iCloud.
- Scan Pages: Open the camera to scan a physical document and insert it directly into the PDF at the selected location.
- Delete: Remove unwanted pages from the document permanently.
Once edits are made, tap Done in the top-left corner to automatically save the updated PDF.
