How to Change Text Size Per App in iOS 15

Apple introduced the ability in iOS 15 to customize text size on an application-by-application basis rather than enforcing a single font scale across the entire operating system. This feature allows users to increase readability in text-heavy apps while keeping standard text dimensions elsewhere. Users can manage this functionality using two primary settings options: the Control Center shortcut for on-the-fly changes, and the dedicated Per-App Settings menu within Accessibility.

Method 1: Using the Control Center Toggle

The quickest way to adjust text size for an individual app is through the iOS Control Center.

  1. Enable the Control Center shortcut: Go to Settings > Control Center and tap the green plus icon next to Text Size to add it to your active controls.
  2. Open the target app: Launch the application in which you want to resize text.
  3. Open Control Center: Swipe down from the top-right corner of your screen (or swipe up from the bottom on devices with a Home button).
  4. Adjust the scale: Tap the Text Size control (the icon with a small and large "A").
  5. Set the scope: At the bottom of the screen, tap the toggle button to select [App Name] Only instead of All Apps.
  6. Set font size: Slide the vertical bar up or down to your preferred text size.

Method 2: Using Accessibility Per-App Settings

For more permanent customization alongside other display settings, iOS 15 provides a central menu in Accessibility.

  1. Open Settings and select Accessibility.
  2. Scroll to the bottom and select Per-App Settings.
  3. Tap Add App and choose the application you wish to customize from the list.
  4. Tap the name of the app after it appears in your list.
  5. Select Larger Text.
  6. Turn on Larger Accessibility Sizes if needed, and adjust the slider at the bottom to configure your preferred font size specifically for that app.
