Apple Wallet Pass Details Changes in iOS 15
Apple introduced several practical refinements to the Wallet app with the release of iOS 15, specifically enhancing how users view, organize, and manage pass details. These updates streamlined the pass management interface, introduced automatic archiving for outdated items, and modernized the settings toggles to give users clearer control over individual boarding passes, event tickets, and loyalty cards.
Automatic Hiding of Expired Passes
The most significant change to pass management in iOS 15 is the "Hide Expired Passes" feature. Rather than leaving old boarding passes, movie tickets, and coupons cluttering the main stack, iOS 15 automatically moves inactive passes into a dedicated "Expired Passes" section located at the bottom of the Wallet screen. Within this management screen, users can review individual pass details, permanently delete them individually or in bulk, or restore specific passes back to the active list.
Redesigned Pass Info Screen
When tapping the three-dot action icon or info button on an individual pass, iOS 15 displays a cleaner, more modern details view:
- Simplified Layout: Pass-specific information—such as seat numbers, gate assignments, loyalty point balances, and customer service contacts—is presented in organized, scrollable cards.
- Streamlined Toggles: System settings for the pass are grouped clearly. Users can quickly toggle options like Automatic Updates and Suggest on Lock Screen directly from the details screen.
- Unified Sharing: The option to share passes with family or friends via AirDrop, Messages, or Mail is integrated directly into the top navigation bar of the pass details screen.
- Direct Deletion: A prominent "Remove Pass" option remains at the bottom of the screen, allowing immediate removal of active cards without needing to navigate secondary menus.
