View Group FaceTime Participants in iOS 12

Group FaceTime in iOS 12 allows you to connect with up to 32 people simultaneously, but keeping track of everyone on screen can be challenging. This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on how to access and view the complete participant list during an active Group FaceTime call on an iPhone or iPad, allowing you to see who is currently speaking, who has joined, and who has been invited.

How to See the Participant List

  1. Activate the Call Controls: While in an active Group FaceTime call, tap anywhere on the screen to bring up the call interface and menu overlay.
  2. Open the Control Card: Locate the control bar at the bottom of the display (where the mute, flip camera, and end call buttons are located).
  3. Swipe Up: Swipe up from the top of the bottom control bar to expand the full menu card.
  4. Review the Participants: The expanded menu displays the full list of people connected to the call under the participant section.

Understanding the Participant Statuses

Once the card is expanded, the list organizes contacts based on their current status:

  • Active Callers: Names or numbers listed without extra prompts are currently connected and active in the conversation.
  • Waiting/Ringing: Contacts who were invited but have not yet answered will show a "Ring" status or button next to their name, allowing you to prompt them to join again.
  • Add Person: Below the list of participants, you will find an "Add Person" option if you wish to bring additional callers into the ongoing session.

To exit the list and return to the main video grid, swipe down on the handle at the top of the expanded card or tap the screen above the menu.
