iOS 12 Memoji Accessories: Hats, Earrings, and More

Apple introduced Memoji in iOS 12, allowing users to create personalized animated avatars that mirror their facial expressions and personal style. A major part of this customization is the accessory system, which lets users outfit their 3D avatars with a diverse selection of headwear, earrings, and eyewear. This guide breaks down the specific accessory options available in iOS 12, including hats, jewelry, and styling choices to help you personalize your digital likeness.

Headwear and Hats

The Headwear category in iOS 12 provides a wide variety of hats, cultural head coverings, and casual caps. Users can choose from styles such as:

  • Casual Hats: Baseball caps, beanies, knit caps, sun hats, fedoras, and flat caps.
  • Specialty & Formal Headwear: Cowboy hats, berets, top hats, and graduation caps.
  • Cultural & Religious Coverings: Turbans, hijabs, and skullcaps.

After selecting a style, you can customize the primary color using a comprehensive color palette and adjust the saturation slider to achieve the exact shade you want.

Earrings

iOS 12 allows you to add subtle or bold jewelry to your Memoji's ears. The earrings section includes several popular styles:

  • Studs: Simple single-stone or metallic studs.
  • Hoops: Small huggie hoops and larger classic hoop earrings.
  • Dangles & Drops: Pendant-style hanging earrings.

Earrings can be customized with metallic finishes like yellow gold, rose gold, and silver, as well as distinct colors to match stones or personal outfits.

Eyewear

Eyewear acts as another prominent accessory category in iOS 12. You can choose from dozens of frame shapes, including classic rectangles, rounded frames, aviators, cat-eye styles, and oversized retro designs.

Once a frame is selected, iOS 12 allows customization of both the frame color and the lens tint. You can leave the lenses clear for traditional prescription glasses or tint them in various gradients and dark shades to create sunglasses.
