How to Report Spam Callers on iOS 12 FaceTime

Unwanted and abusive FaceTime calls can be disruptive and concerning, but iOS 12 provides built-in tools to stop these callers and report them to Apple. This guide explains how to block offending numbers directly within the FaceTime app, report spam contact details to Apple's abuse team, and configure your device settings to prevent future intrusions.

Block the Caller in FaceTime

Blocking the caller immediately prevents them from reaching you via FaceTime, standard phone calls, and iMessage.

  1. Open the FaceTime app on your iOS 12 device.
  2. Locate the unwanted call in your call history.
  3. Tap the Info icon (the lowercase "i" inside a circle) next to the caller's name or number.
  4. Scroll to the bottom of the contact card and tap Block this Caller.
  5. Tap Block Contact to confirm.

Report the Spam or Abuse Directly to Apple

While iOS 12 includes a dedicated "Report Junk" button for unknown iMessages, FaceTime call logs do not feature an automatic reporting button. You can manually report abusive callers and spam directly to Apple via email:

  1. Take a screenshot of the caller's details from your FaceTime call log, ensuring the phone number or Apple ID email address is clearly visible.
  2. Open your email client and compose a new message to: imessage.spam@apple.com
  3. Attach the screenshot to the email.
  4. Include the exact phone number or email address of the caller, along with the date and time the call was received.
  5. Send the email for Apple's investigation team to review.

Manage Who Can Reach You on FaceTime

To further reduce unsolicited FaceTime requests, you can limit which email addresses and phone numbers are associated with your FaceTime account:

  1. Open the Settings app.
  2. Tap FaceTime.
  3. Under the section labeled You Can Be Reached By FaceTime At, uncheck any secondary email addresses that may have been compromised or targeted by spammers.
  4. Ensure only your primary, private contact methods remain selected.
