Disable iOS 12 Notifications Without Settings
iOS 12 allows you to manage and turn off notifications directly from the Lock Screen or Notification Center without navigating through the main Settings app. Using a feature called Instant Tuning, you can mute or completely disable alerts for any specific app the moment a notification arrives.
Steps to Turn Off Notifications from an Alert
- Locate the Notification: Find an alert from the app you want to silence on your Lock Screen or by swiping down from the top of your screen to open the Notification Center.
- Swipe Left: Swipe gently from right to left across the notification or notification stack.
- Tap Manage: Select the Manage button (indicated by three dots) that appears on the right side.
- Select Turn Off: A menu will pop up from the bottom of the screen with management options. Tap Turn Off...
- Confirm: Tap Turn Off All Notifications to finalize the change.
Alternative: Deliver Quietly
If you do not want to completely disable notifications, the same Manage menu offers a Deliver Quietly option. Choosing this keeps notifications enabled but directs them straight to the Notification Center without lighting up your screen, playing sounds, showing banner alerts, or displaying badge icons on the app.
