Select Objects with Same Fill Color in CorelDRAW

Selecting every object that shares an identical fill color in CorelDRAW is an essential workflow technique that eliminates the tedious task of manually clicking individual elements. By utilizing CorelDRAW's native "Find and Replace" docker, you can instantly search an entire page or document for a specific color value and select all matching vector shapes simultaneously, allowing for rapid batch recoloring, grouping, or editing.

Using the Find and Replace Docker

The most reliable method to select objects by fill color is through the Find and Replace tool:

  1. Open the Find and Replace Docker: Navigate to the top menu and select Edit > Find and Replace. A docker panel will open on the right side of the workspace.

  2. Set the Search Criteria:

    • At the top of the docker, select the Find Objects tab.
    • Choose the option to find objects that match specific properties.
    • Check the box for Fills and select Uniform Color (or the specific fill type you wish to search for, such as Fountain Fill).

  3. Specify the Fill Color:

    • Click on the color swatch next to the fill option.
    • Use the Eyedropper tool to click directly on the object with the fill color you want to match in your drawing, or choose the exact color from your document palette.

  4. Execute the Selection:

    • At the bottom of the docker, choose your search scope (e.g., Current Page or Entire Document).
    • Click Find All.

CorelDRAW will immediately highlight and select all objects matching the specified fill color.

Managing Grouped Objects

If any objects with the target fill color are inside groups, CorelDRAW may not select them individually depending on your version's settings:

  • To edit them without un-grouping, you can ungroup the artwork first by selecting all elements and pressing Ctrl + U, then running the Find and Replace process.
  • Once the selection is active via Find All, you can immediately change their fill color using the color palette, apply an outline, or press Ctrl + G to group the selected matching objects together for easier management.
