Rotate Objects by Exact Angles in CorelDRAW

Rotating objects to precise measurements is essential for accurate graphic design, technical illustration, and layout work in CorelDRAW. This guide explains how to quickly rotate shapes, text, and groups by exact angles using the Property Bar, the Transform Docker, and custom rotation centers.

Method 1: The Property Bar (Fastest)

The Property Bar provides the quickest way to apply an exact numerical rotation to any selected object.

  1. Select the object, text, or group using the Pick Tool.
  2. Look at the Property Bar at the top of your workspace.
  3. Locate the Angle of Rotation box (indicated by an icon showing an angle with a curved arrow).
  4. Type the exact degree value you need (e.g., 45, 90, 180).
    • Entering a positive number rotates the object counterclockwise.
    • Entering a negative number (e.g., -30) rotates the object clockwise.
  5. Press Enter on your keyboard to apply the rotation.

Method 2: The Transform Docker (Best for Duplication and Custom Anchors)

The Transform Docker allows you to rotate an object around specific anchor points or create multiple rotated copies simultaneously.

  1. Select your object with the Pick Tool.
  2. Open the docker by navigating to Object > Transformations > Rotate (or press Alt + F8).
  3. In the docker, select the Rotate tab.
  4. Enter your desired degree into the Angle input field.
  5. Set the Center of Rotation:
    • Use the Relative Center 9-point grid to choose an anchor (such as top-left, center, or bottom-right).
    • Alternatively, input custom X and Y coordinates for the pivot point.
  6. If you want to keep the original object and create rotated duplicates (useful for creating circular patterns, gears, or clock faces), enter the quantity in the Copies field.
  7. Click Apply.

Method 3: Rotating Around a Custom Pivot Point

If you need to rotate an object around a specific point outside or inside the shape:

  1. Click the object once with the Pick Tool to select it, then click it a second time to reveal the rotation handles and the center pivot point (a small circle with a dot).
  2. Click and drag the center pivot point to your desired location (e.g., snapping it to a node or guide).
  3. Go to the Property Bar, enter your exact angle in the Angle of Rotation box, and press Enter. The object will rotate around the newly placed pivot point.
