Page Numbering Format Options in CorelDRAW

CorelDRAW provides several flexible page numbering formats to help you organize multi-page documents such as brochures, catalogs, and booklets. This guide covers all the built-in numbering styles supported by CorelDRAW, how to access them through the Page Number Settings, and how to customize the numbering sequence to suit your design requirements.

Supported Page Number Formats

When adding page numbers in CorelDRAW, you can choose from five primary alphanumeric styles:

  • Arabic Numerals (1, 2, 3…): The standard default numbering format suitable for general documents, portfolios, and commercial prints.
  • Lower-case Roman Numerals (i, ii, iii…): Commonly used for preliminary document pages, such as prefaces, forewords, tables of contents, and copyright sections.
  • Upper-case Roman Numerals (I, II, III…): Ideal for formal publications, legal documents, chapter dividers, or appendix introductions.
  • Lower-case Alphabetical (a, b, c…): Useful for supplementary sections, appendixes, or multi-part layouts.
  • Upper-case Alphabetical (A, B, C…): Frequently used for primary appendices, broad document sections, or exhibit markers.

Additional Page Numbering Options

Beyond character styles, CorelDRAW offers configuration settings to control how and where numbers appear:

  • Start Numbering Value: You can specify a starting number other than 1. This is useful if your file is part of a larger multi-file publication.
  • Page Range Application: You can apply page numbers to:
    • All Pages
    • All Odd Pages
    • All Even Pages
    • Only on Active Layer
  • Prefixes and Suffixes: Because page numbers behave as standard text objects once inserted, you can add text before or after the number (for example, typing "Page " before the number, or adding "- A" after it).
  • Dynamic Page Counts: You can combine page number codes with total page count codes to create formats such as "Page X of Y."
