How to Set Page Boundaries in CorelDRAW

Setting page boundaries in CorelDRAW ensures your artwork aligns properly, prints accurately, and fits exact dimensions. This guide covers how to display the printable page border, change document dimensions, configure bleed margins for commercial printing, and create a physical boundary box around your workspace.

Showing the Page Border

CorelDRAW displays the page boundary as a drop shadow or an outline by default. If the boundary is missing:

  1. Click on the View menu at the top of the screen.
  2. Hover over Page.
  3. Select Page Border to ensure a checkmark appears next to it.

You can also toggle Bleed and Printable Area from this same menu to visualize your production limits.

Changing Page Dimensions

To set custom boundary dimensions for your active page:

  1. Click an empty area of the workspace to ensure no objects are selected.
  2. Look at the Property Bar at the top of the interface.
  3. Choose a preset size from the Page Size dropdown, or enter custom numeric values in the Page Dimensions boxes (Width and Height).
  4. Select either Portrait or Landscape orientation.
  5. Choose whether to apply these boundary dimensions to the Current Page only or All Pages using the icons on the Property Bar.

Configuring Bleed Boundaries

When designing materials that print up to the very edge of the paper, you must set an extended bleed boundary:

  1. Go to Layout in the main menu and select Page Setup.
  2. In the options tree on the left, navigate to Document > Page Size.
  3. In the Bleed section, specify your required bleed distance (typically 0.125 inches or 3 mm).
  4. Check the Show bleed area box to display the boundary as a dashed line outside the page border.
  5. Click OK.

Creating a Bounding Box Snapped to Page Limits

If you need a visible or editable object that matches your page boundaries perfectly:

  1. Locate the Rectangle Tool in the left toolbox (or press F6).
  2. Double-click the Rectangle Tool icon.
  3. CorelDRAW will automatically generate a rectangle that matches your exact page size and positions it precisely over the page boundaries.
