How to Globally Change Fonts in CorelDRAW

Replacing fonts individually across a multi-page or complex design project in CorelDRAW is time-consuming and prone to errors. This guide explains how to globally find and replace all instances of a specific font family across your entire active document using CorelDRAW's built-in Find and Replace utility, ensuring consistent typography in just a few steps.

Using the Find and Replace Tool

The most efficient method to update a font family across an entire document is through the Find and Replace feature.

Step 1: Open the Find and Replace Docker

  1. Open your document in CorelDRAW.
  2. Go to the top menu and select Edit.
  3. Choose Find and Replace from the dropdown menu. This will open the Find and Replace docker (or dialog box in older versions) on the right side of your workspace.

Step 2: Configure the Search Criteria

  1. At the top of the docker, select the Replace Objects tab (or choose the Replace Objects radio button).
  2. From the options list, select Text Properties and click Next (if using the wizard).
  3. Check the box for Font.
  4. In the Find field, select or type the exact name of the font family currently used in your design that you want to remove.
  5. In the Replace with field, select the new font family you wish to apply.
  6. Leave other properties (such as weight, size, or style) unchecked if you only want to change the font family while preserving existing formatting like bold, italic, or point size.

Step 3: Apply the Changes Globally

  1. Under the search scope, ensure that Entire Document is selected rather than just the current page or selection.
  2. Click Find Next to preview individual instances, or click Replace All to immediately update every instance of the targeted font family throughout the entire project.
  3. Once the process is finished, a confirmation dialog will state that the search has reached the end of the document. Click OK and close the docker.

Alternative Method: Using the PANOSE Font Matching System

If you are opening an existing file and do not have the original font installed, you can globally remap it immediately upon opening:

  1. Open the file containing the font you wish to replace.
  2. When the Font Matching Results (PANOSE) dialog appears, locate the missing font in the list.
  3. In the Substituted Font column, select the desired replacement font family.
  4. Set the substitution preference to Permanent if you want the file to save with the new font.
  5. Click OK to apply the replacement to all text elements using that font.
