How to Find Specific Outline Widths in CorelDRAW

CorelDRAW provides a dedicated search utility to identify, select, and modify objects based on specific stroke properties across complex artwork. By utilizing the Find and Replace docker, designers can filter vector objects by exact outline widths, ranges of thicknesses, or measurement units to streamline prepress checks, ensure line-weight consistency, and perform bulk edits.

The Outline Width Search Filter

The primary tool for locating line thicknesses is the Outline Properties filter located inside the Find and Replace feature.

To configure the filter:

  1. Open the docker via Edit > Find and Replace (or press Ctrl + F).
  2. Select Find Objects and click Add Query.
  3. In the query builder list, expand the Outlines category and select Outline Properties.

Configurable Search Criteria

Once the outline filter is active, CorelDRAW exposes specific parameters to target stroke widths:

  • Width Operator: You can refine how the search engine evaluates line thickness by choosing operators such as:
    • Equal to (=): Finds paths matching an exact value (e.g., exactly 0.5 pt or Hairline).
    • Not equal to (≠): Finds all outlines except the specified value.
    • Greater than (>): Finds any strokes thicker than a designated size.
    • Less than (<): Finds any strokes thinner than a designated size.
    • Between: Isolates outlines falling within a defined minimum and maximum thickness range.
  • Measurement Units: You can define the query in points (pt), millimeters (mm), inches (in), pixels (px), or other document-specific units.
  • Hairline Preset: CorelDRAW treats "Hairline" as a distinct baseline width, which can be selected directly within the properties dialog without entering a numerical value.

Step-by-Step Execution

  1. Choose Edit > Find and Replace.
  2. Click Add Query, scroll to Outlines, and check Outline Properties.
  3. Check the box next to Width, pick your conditional operator (e.g., Equal to), and enter your target dimension.
  4. Click OK to load the rule into the search query list.
  5. Click Find Next to step through matches individually, or click Find All to select every object in the active layer or entire document that shares that outline width.
