How to Customize Paper Size Presets in CorelDRAW
This guide provides a straightforward walkthrough on creating, saving, and managing custom paper size presets in CorelDRAW. By establishing custom dimensions tailored to your frequent design projects—such as specific signage, marketing collateral, or packaging layouts—you can streamline your workflow and avoid entering page dimensions manually for every new document.
Accessing the Page Size Settings
To configure a custom paper size, you must first access the page setup controls within an open document:
- Open an existing document or create a new blank document in CorelDRAW.
- Navigate to the top menu and select Layout > Page Setup. (Alternatively, double-click the shadow or border of the drawing page, or click the Document Options icon on the Property bar when nothing is selected).
- In the Options dialog box that appears, select Document > Page Size from the left-hand navigation tree.
Defining Custom Dimensions
Once you are in the Page Size menu, define the exact specifications for your custom preset:
- Set Units: Choose your preferred unit of measurement (such as inches, millimeters, centimeters, or pixels) from the Units dropdown menu.
- Enter Dimensions: Type your required values into the Width and Height fields.
- Choose Orientation: Select either Portrait or Landscape.
- Set Bleed and Resolution (Optional): If your workflow requires printing bleed, check the Bleed box and enter the desired value. Adjust the rendering resolution (typically 300 DPI for high-quality print) if necessary.
Saving the Custom Preset
To ensure these dimensions can be reused across future projects:
- Locate the Page size dropdown menu at the top of the dialog box.
- Click the Save icon (represented by a floppy disk or a plus sign, depending on your version of CorelDRAW) next to the preset dropdown list.
- In the prompt that appears, type a descriptive name for your custom preset (e.g., "Standard Tri-Fold" or "Social Banner").
- Click OK to save the name, and then click OK again to apply the settings and close the Options dialog box.
Applying and Managing Your Custom Presets
- In an Active Document: When no objects are selected, click the Page Size dropdown menu on the Property bar. Scroll through the list to find and select your saved preset; the workspace will instantly resize to your saved parameters.
- In the New Document Dialog: When launching a new file via File > New, select your custom preset directly from the Page preset list to begin immediately with the correct canvas size.
- Deleting a Preset: To remove a preset you no longer need, return to Layout > Page Setup > Page Size, select your custom preset from the dropdown menu, and click the Delete icon (trash can) adjacent to the list.
