How to Copy Attributes in CorelDRAW

This guide explains how to quickly transfer design attributes—including fills, outlines, and effects—between vector shapes in CorelDRAW. You will learn three distinct, highly efficient methods: utilizing the Attributes Eyedropper tool, using the right-click drag-and-drop shortcut, and applying the native "Copy Properties From" command.

Method 1: Use the Attributes Eyedropper Tool

The Attributes Eyedropper is the most flexible tool for transferring specific properties selectively from one object to another.

  1. Open the Eyedropper flyout on the left toolbox and select the Attributes Eyedropper tool.
  2. Look at the Property Bar at the top of the workspace. Click on the property dropdowns to choose exactly what you want to copy:
    • Properties: Outline, Fill, Text.
    • Transformations: Size, Rotation, Position.
    • Effects: Drop Shadow, Extrude, Contour, Blend, etc.
  3. Click on the source shape containing the attributes you wish to sample. The cursor automatically switches to an Apply Attributes paint bucket icon.
  4. Click on the target shape to apply the copied properties. You can continue clicking on multiple target objects to apply the same properties repeatedly.

The right-click drag method is the fastest shortcut for copying basic fills and outlines between two objects on the canvas.

  1. Select the Pick Tool from the toolbox.
  2. Select the source shape.
  3. Hold down the right mouse button and drag the source shape over the target shape.
  4. Release the mouse button when the cursor changes to a crosshair target icon over the destination object.
  5. From the pop-up context menu, select your preferred option:

    • Copy All Properties

Method 3: The "Copy Properties From" Command

This classic method allows you to apply properties precisely by first selecting your destination object.

  1. Using the Pick Tool, select the target shape (the shape you want to change).
  2. Go to the top menu bar and select Edit > Copy Properties From....
  3. In the dialog box that appears, check the boxes for the attributes you wish to copy:
    • Outline Pen
    • Outline Color
    • Fill
    • Text Properties
  4. Click OK.
  5. Your cursor will turn into a large black arrow. Click on the source shape from which you want to copy the selected properties. CorelDRAW will immediately apply the attributes to the target object.
