How to Collect Files for Output in CorelDRAW

Collecting files for output in CorelDRAW is an essential pre-press step that packages your project file alongside its linked images, document fonts, color profiles, and print settings into a single folder or ZIP archive. This process prevents common printing errors, such as missing assets or font substitutions, when sending design files to a commercial printer or collaborating with other designers.

Step 1: Save Your Document

Before generating an output package, finalize your design and save the current version of your document. Go to File > Save to ensure all recent changes are recorded.

Step 2: Open the Prepare for Output Wizard

  1. Click the File menu at the top of the interface.
  2. Select Prepare for Output (or Collect for Output in older versions of CorelDRAW).
  3. The wizard window will open to guide you through the packaging settings.

Step 3: Choose File Types and Options

The wizard provides several configuration screens:

  • PDF and CDR Files: Choose whether to include the original CorelDRAW (.CDR) file, an automatically generated print-ready PDF, or both.
  • Fonts: Select the option to copy all fonts used in the document. This ensures the receiving party does not experience font replacement issues. (Note: Verify font licensing agreements before distributing commercial typefaces).
  • Color Profiles: Check the box to include the document's ICC color profiles to preserve exact color management settings.

Step 4: Select Destination and Package Format

  1. Choose how you want the files saved: either as a single compressed ZIP archive or inside a new uncompressed folder.
  2. Click Browse to select the destination drive and directory where the package will be created.
  3. Review the summary screen, which lists all fonts, color profiles, and files that CorelDRAW has gathered.

Step 5: Finalize the Package

Click Finish (or Save). CorelDRAW will generate the package in your selected directory, complete with a text report detailing document properties, colors, and asset paths for the print provider.
