How to Clear Cache in CorelDRAW

Over time, CorelDRAW generates temporary files, scratch disk data, and workspace caches that can consume significant disk space and cause performance slowdowns, freezing, or startup errors. Clearing these cached files helps restore application speed, prevents file corruption, and resolves common stability issues. Below are the direct methods to purge temporary memory caches created by CorelDRAW on your system.

Method 1: Delete Windows Temporary Files

CorelDRAW stores working session data and swap files directly in the Windows Temp directory. Clearing this folder removes leftover cache from closed or crashed sessions.

  1. Close CorelDRAW and all other running applications.
  2. Press Windows Key + R to open the Run dialog box.
  3. Type %temp% and press Enter.
  4. In the folder that opens, press Ctrl + A to select all files and folders.
  5. Press Shift + Delete to permanently remove the files.
  6. If a prompt appears stating a file is currently in use, check the box for Do this for all current items and click Skip.

Method 2: Reset CorelDRAW to Factory Defaults

Resetting the workspace purges corrupt UI caches, temporary tool settings, and transient memory configurations without deleting your actual project files.

  1. Ensure CorelDRAW is completely closed.
  2. Press and hold the F8 key on your keyboard.
  3. While continuing to hold F8, launch CorelDRAW by clicking its shortcut.
  4. Keep holding the key until a dialog box appears asking: "Are you sure you want to overwrite the current workspace with the factory defaults?"
  5. Click Yes and release the key.

Method 3: Clear CorelDRAW AppData Cache

Persistent application caches, including font lists and user state caches, are stored in the AppData directory.

  1. Close CorelDRAW.
  2. Press Windows Key + R, type %appdata%\Corel, and press Enter.
  3. Locate the folder corresponding to your installed version (for example, CorelDRAW Graphics Suite 2024).
  4. Open the folder and locate cache-related subfolders such as User Data, Messages, or thumbnail cache directories.
  5. Delete the contents of these cache folders, or rename the entire version folder (e.g., adding .old to the name) to force CorelDRAW to rebuild a clean cache structure on next launch.

Method 4: Clear the Font Database Cache

A corrupt font cache can cause severe memory lag when opening files or selecting text tools.

  1. Close CorelDRAW and open Corel Font Manager if installed.
  2. Alternatively, press Windows Key + R, type %appdata%\Corel\FontDatabase, and press Enter.
  3. Delete the cache files located in this folder.
  4. Restart CorelDRAW to allow the software to build a fresh, uncorrupted font index.
