How to Change Working Folder Paths in CorelDRAW
Configuring working folder paths in CorelDRAW allows you to define where your designs, templates, color palettes, and backups are saved by default. Customizing these directories optimizes your workflow, prevents clutter on your primary drive, and makes collaborative projects on shared network drives much easier to manage. This guide outlines the exact steps required to locate and change these folder settings within CorelDRAW.
Steps to Configure File Locations
- Launch CorelDRAW and open any document or start a new blank file to access the top menu bar.
- Go to the menu at the top of the screen and click Tools > Options. (Alternatively, you can press Ctrl + J on your keyboard).
- In the Options dialog box, click on Global from the category list on the left side.
- Select File Locations under the Global options.
- In the right pane, you will see a list of file types and their
current directory paths, including:
- Documents / Drawings
- Templates
- Palettes
- Fills and Transparencies
- Plug-ins
- Select the file type whose path you wish to change.
- Click the Edit button (or double-click the existing path/click the folder icon next to it).
- Use the file explorer window to navigate to the new destination folder on your local drive or local network.
- Click Select Folder (or OK) to confirm the location.
- Click OK at the bottom of the Options dialog to apply and save your changes.
Resetting to Default Folders
If you ever need to revert to the original installation paths:
- Return to Tools > Options > Global > File Locations.
- Select the modified path from the list.
- Click the Reset button to restore CorelDRAW's default directory for that specific file type.
- Click OK to save the changes.
