How to Automate Batch Image Exports in CorelDRAW
Exporting multiple graphics individually in CorelDRAW is time-consuming, but the process can be fully automated using built-in features and scripting. This guide covers how to batch export images using the native Export docker for multi-asset workflows, the CorelDRAW File Converter macro for processing multiple documents, and custom VBA scripts for advanced automated tasks.
Method 1: Using the Export Docker (CorelDRAW 2021 and Newer)
The Export docker allows you to output multiple objects, groups, or pages simultaneously to various file formats with a single click.
- Open the Export Docker: Go to Window > Dockers (or Inspectors on macOS) > Export.
- Select Assets: Select the objects, groups, or pages you want to export on your workspace.
- Add to Docker: Click the Add Asset (+) button in the Export docker. Each selected element appears as an individual export item.
- Configure Export Settings:
- Assign file formats (e.g., PNG, JPG, PDF, SVG) for each asset.
- Specify suffixes, dimensions, and resolution settings. You can add multiple export settings to a single asset to output multiple sizes or formats at once.
- Set the Destination: Choose your target folder at the bottom of the docker.
- Export: Click Export All to process and save all assets simultaneously.
Method 2: Using the CorelDRAW File Converter Macro
To export entire files or multiple .cdr documents into
raster formats without opening each one manually, use CorelDRAW's
pre-installed converter script.
- Open the Script Manager: Go to Tools > Scripts > Scripts (or Run Script).
- Locate the File Converter:
- In the Macros in dropdown menu, select FileConverter.
- Select FileConverter.Converter and click Run.
- Set Source and Output Formats:
- Set the Source directory containing your CorelDRAW files.
- Select the target file format (such as JPG, PNG, or TIFF) from the Destination section.
- Choose Export Parameters: Define the color mode, resolution (DPI), and page range.
- Run the Batch: Click Convert to process all files in the directory automatically.
Method 3: Automating Exports with a VBA Macro
For repetitive tasks or complex requirements—such as exporting every shape on a specific layer as an individual PNG—CorelDRAW's built-in Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) engine provides full control.
- Press Alt + F11 to open the VBA Editor.
- In the Project Explorer, right-click on your project, select Insert, and choose Module.
- Paste the following automated script:
Sub BatchExportShapes()
Dim doc As Document
Dim sh As Shape
Dim opt As New StructExportOptions
Dim count As Integer
Set doc = ActiveDocument
opt.AntiAliasingType = cdrNormalAntiAliasing
opt.ImageType = cdrRGBColorImage
opt.Resolution = 300
count = 1
For Each sh In doc.ActivePage.Shapes
sh.CreateSelection
doc.Export "C:\Exports\Image_" & count & ".png", cdrPNG, cdrSelection, opt
count = count + 1
Next sh
MsgBox "Batch export complete!", vbInformation
End Sub
- Adjust the export folder path (
C:\Exports\), file type, or resolution as needed. - Close the editor, return to CorelDRAW, and run the macro via Tools > Scripts > Run Script.
