Export CorelDRAW Color Palettes for Teams

Maintaining consistent brand colors across a design team requires centralized color assets. This guide explains how to export, share, and import custom color palettes in CorelDRAW, ensuring every team member works with identical swatches, spot colors, and print profiles.

Locating Your Custom Palette

CorelDRAW manages color sets through the Palettes docker. Before exporting, ensure your custom colors are properly saved into a dedicated palette file.

  1. Open CorelDRAW and navigate to the top menu.
  2. Go to Window > Dockers (or Inspectors on macOS) > Palettes.
  3. Expand the Palettes folder to locate your custom palette. If you haven't created one yet, click the + (plus) icon or the palette menu button and select New Palette from Document or New Empty Palette.

Exporting the Palette File

CorelDRAW stores user-created palettes as .xml files. You can copy this file directly from the file system or save it to an external location for distribution.

  1. In the Palettes docker, right-click your custom palette.
  2. Select Palette > Save As... (or click the flyout menu icon at the top of the docker).
  3. Choose a destination folder, such as a shared network drive, cloud storage (Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox), or a local folder for email distribution.
  4. Name the file clearly (e.g., Brand_Primary_2024.xml) and click Save.

Alternatively, you can manually locate your saved palettes in Windows:

  • Navigate to: C:\Users\[Your Username]\Documents\Corel\Corel Content\Palettes
  • Copy the corresponding .xml file directly.

Importing the Palette on Team Members' Computers

Once the file is shared, other team members can load it into their CorelDRAW workspace using these steps:

  1. Download or copy the shared .xml palette file to the local computer.
  2. Open CorelDRAW and go to Window > Dockers > Palettes.
  3. Click the flyout menu icon (three dots or folder icon) in the Palettes docker and select Open Palette....
  4. Browse to the location of the shared .xml file, select it, and click Open.
  5. The palette will now appear under the My Palettes section.

Keeping the Palette Visible

To keep the palette docked on screen for daily use:

  • Check the box next to the palette name in the Palettes docker to display it along the edge of the workspace.
  • Drag the palette border to dock it horizontally at the bottom or vertically alongside the default palette.
