Convert Fonts to Curves in CorelDRAW for Logo Delivery

Converting fonts to vector curves in CorelDRAW ensures your finalized logo displays identically on any device without requiring the recipient to install your specific fonts. This guide outlines the essential steps to change editable text into permanent vector paths, verify the conversion, and export the file correctly for professional client delivery.

Why Convert Text to Curves?

When you send a logo file with live fonts to a client, printer, or manufacturer, their software will replace your chosen typeface with a default system font if they do not have it installed. Converting text to curves permanently turns font glyphs into vector outlines, eliminating font dependency, preventing accidental text edits, and preserving your design's exact proportions and styling.

Step 1: Save an Editable Backup

Before modifying the artwork, create a separate backup copy of your file:

  1. Go to File > Save As.
  2. Rename the file with a suffix such as _Editable or _Master.
  3. Keep this file intact so you can edit the text, fix typos, or change fonts in the future.

Step 2: Select the Text Elements

  1. Open the file intended for delivery.
  2. Select the Pick Tool from the left-hand toolbox.
  3. Click directly on the text you want to convert.
  4. If your logo contains multiple text elements scattered across layers, hold Shift while clicking each one, or choose Edit > Select All > Text to highlight every text object across the active document simultaneously.

Step 3: Convert to Curves

CorelDRAW provides multiple ways to execute the command:

  • Keyboard Shortcut: Press Ctrl + Q (Windows) or Cmd + Q (macOS).
  • Top Menu: Navigate to Object > Convert to Curves.
  • Right-Click: Right-click the selected text and select Convert To Curves from the context menu.

Once applied, the individual letters become vector paths with editable nodes rather than live, typeable text.

Step 4: Verify the Conversion

To ensure no live text remains in the document:

  1. Open the Objects Docker/Inspector by going to Window > Dockers > Objects.
  2. Expand the layers and confirm that all text objects are now labeled as Curve.
  3. Alternatively, check the Document Information panel under File > Document Information. The "Text Statistics" section should show zero fonts, characters, and words.

Step 5: Export for Client Delivery

With the text successfully flattened into vector geometry, export the file into standard delivery formats:

  1. Go to File > Save As or File > Export.
  2. Select the required industry-standard vector format:
    • PDF: Ideal for proofs and modern print shops. Ensure "Export all text as curves" is selected under the PDF export settings as an added safeguard.
    • EPS: The legacy standard for print and signage vendors.
    • SVG: Best for web and digital implementation.
    • AI / CDR: For clients who require native vector source files.
  3. Click Export to finalize the asset package.
