Assign Display Profiles in CorelDRAW

Calibrating your monitor ensures that the colors you see on screen match your final printed or digital output as closely as possible. This guide covers how to assign a custom display calibration profile (ICC or ICM) to CorelDRAW, ensuring your workspace renders accurate color values by coordinating CorelDRAW's internal color management system with your calibrated monitor settings.

Step 1: Install the Calibration Profile in Your Operating System

CorelDRAW primarily references the display profile assigned at the operating system level. Before configuring CorelDRAW, ensure your calibrated profile is active on your computer.

  1. Open the Windows search bar, type Color Management, and press Enter.
  2. In the Devices tab, select your monitor from the Device drop-down menu.
  3. Check the box labeled Use my settings for this device.
  4. Click Add... at the bottom, browse to your custom .icc or .icm profile generated by your calibration hardware/software, and select it.
  5. Highlight the newly added profile and click Set as Default Profile.
  6. Close the Color Management window.

Step 2: Configure CorelDRAW to Recognize the Profile

Once the operating system is set, configure CorelDRAW to use the monitor profile for rendering on-screen colors.

  1. Launch CorelDRAW.
  2. Go to the top menu and select Tools > Color Management > Default Settings.
  3. Locate the Color conversion settings section. Ensure the Color engine is set to an industry-standard engine (such as Microsoft ICM or LittleCMS, depending on your version).
  4. Look for the display or proofing options. Modern versions of CorelDRAW automatically detect and apply the active desktop monitor profile assigned in Step 1.
  5. In versions of CorelDRAW that feature a distinct Monitor drop-down menu within Color Management, click the menu and manually choose your custom profile name instead of the default generic sRGB profile.
  6. Click OK to save and apply the changes.

Step 3: Verify Document Display Settings

To ensure your active document uses the calibrated display space:

  1. Open your document and navigate to Tools > Color Management > Document Settings.
  2. Verify that your primary color mode (RGB or CMYK) corresponds with your workflow requirements.
  3. Ensure color management is active for the workspace so that CorelDRAW properly maps the document's color space to your custom display profile in real time.
