Align Text Frames Across Multipage Layouts in CorelDRAW

Aligning text frames consistently across a multipage layout in CorelDRAW is essential for producing professional publications such as brochures, magazines, and books. This guide explains how to use Master Guides, exact object coordinates, and Master Layers to position text frames in the exact same location across every page of your document.

Method 1: Use Master Page Guidelines

The most efficient way to position text frames in the same spot on every page is by establishing master guidelines.

  1. Open your document and navigate to the Objects docker (Window > Dockers > Objects).
  2. Expand the Master Page section at the top of the list.
  3. Select the Guides layer under the Master Page.
  4. Drag horizontal and vertical guidelines from the rulers onto your workspace to define the margins or boundaries for your text.
  5. Enable guideline snapping by clicking View > Snap To > Guidelines.
  6. On each individual page, draw or move your paragraph text frame until its edges snap cleanly to the master guides.

Method 2: Set Exact Coordinates on the Property Bar

For absolute precision, match the dimensions and coordinates of your text frames using the Property Bar.

  1. Select the text frame on your first page using the Pick tool.
  2. Look at the Property Bar at the top of the interface.
  3. Note the Object Position values (X and Y coordinates) and the Object Size values (width and height). Ensure the anchor point (the 9-point reference grid) is set consistently, such as the top-left corner.
  4. Go to the next page and select the corresponding text frame.
  5. Type the identical X, Y, width, and height values into the Property Bar and press Enter.
  6. Repeat this process for all pages where alignment is required.

Method 3: Use Master Layers for Repeating Placeholders

If your layout requires non-threaded static text or standard layout containers across all pages, you can place the frame directly on a master layer.

  1. Open the Objects docker.
  2. Select the Master Page section.
  3. Click the New Master Layer (all pages) icon at the bottom of the docker.
  4. Draw your text frame on this newly created layer.
  5. The text frame will appear in the exact same location across all current and future pages in the document.

Linking Aligned Text Frames Across Pages

To flow continuous body text across your aligned frames:

  1. Select the text frame containing your overflow text with the Pick tool.
  2. Click the overflow indicator tab (the small downward arrow at the bottom of the frame). The cursor turns into a text placement icon.
  3. Switch to the target page.
  4. Click inside the pre-aligned empty text frame on that page to link the text flow.
