How to Share Photoshop Review Links with Clients
Adobe Photoshop provides built-in tools and integrations that allow creators to generate live review links directly from the workspace, eliminating the need to export static files and send back-and-forth emails. By utilizing features like Photoshop’s native "Share for Review" panel, Creative Cloud web links, and integrated third-party review extensions, designers can share interactive web links where clients can view designs, drop pinpoint comments, and approve iterations in real time without needing an Adobe account.
Adobe "Share for Review" (Native Feature)
The most direct and seamless method is the native Share for Review feature available in modern versions of Photoshop.
- Access the Tool: Click the blue Share button in the upper-right corner of the Photoshop interface, or navigate to File > Share for Review.
- Configure Access Settings: In the panel that opens,
choose your link settings:
- Public: Anyone with the link can view and comment.
- Only invited people: Restricts access to specific email addresses.
- Password protection: Adds a required password for viewing and commenting.
- Generate and Share the Link: Click Create link. Photoshop uploads a lightweight version of your canvas to Adobe’s cloud servers and generates a URL that you can copy and send to your client.
- Client Experience: The client opens the URL in any web browser on desktop or mobile. They do not need to install Photoshop or create an Adobe ID (if public or password-protected). They can view the artboard, zoom in, and leave pinned comments or drawn annotations.
- Pushing Updates: When you make revisions to the
.psdfile, reopen the Share for Review panel and click Update link. The existing link updates automatically to reflect your new design, preserving all previous comment threads.
Creative Cloud Web Links via Cloud Documents
If you save your work as a Cloud Document (.psdc), you
can share review links through Adobe Creative Cloud:
- Save your file via File > Save As and select Save to Creative Cloud.
- Click the Share button and select Invite to Edit (for collaborators) or open the file in the Creative Cloud Desktop App / Creative Cloud Web.
- From the web view, generate a review link that functions similarly to Share for Review, providing a dedicated space for stakeholders to leave time-stamped comments and track revision history.
Frame.io for Adobe Creative Cloud
For teams that require enterprise-grade feedback and workflow tracking, the Frame.io extension is integrated directly into Adobe Creative Cloud:
- Open the Frame.io panel via Window > Extensions (legacy) > Frame.io or through the Creative Cloud Marketplace.
- Upload your active composition or selected artboards directly into an assigned project folder.
- Generate a secure presentation or review link directly from the panel.
- Clients receive a specialized interface where they can leave color-coded annotations, attachments, and approvals. Comments sync back directly to your Photoshop workspace.
Key Considerations for Client Reviews
- Permissions: Always check whether a client needs an Adobe login. Setting the link to "Anyone with the link can comment" ensures non-technical clients experience zero friction.
- Canvas Size: Flattening complex layer groups before generating links is not required; Photoshop creates an optimized web preview automatically.
- Notifications: Enable email notifications in your Adobe Creative Cloud settings so you are alerted immediately when a client leaves a comment on your live link.
